Hamburg Media School, MOIN Film Fund and the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg jointly launched the "GetOnSet" film trainee programme last year. Three graduates from the first round of the programme are now working on the set of the series "BRÜT" by Hamburg production company Tamtam Film.

The production company Tamtam Film - a partner company of the GetOnSet programme - started filming its latest project "BRÜT" on 5 October 2023. It is particularly pleasing that three key positions in the production were filled by former GetOnSet trainees: the position of first assistant director, unit manager and Sound Assistants. This not only underlines the quality of the programme, but also the positive development of the promotion of young talent in the film industry. "We are extremely proud of the former graduates of the GetOnSet programme, who are now taking on important roles at 'BRÜT'," says Andrea Schütte, CEO of the production company Tamtam Film. "This achievement shows that we are on the right track with our intensive training programme and are actively helping to promote the next generation of filmmakers."

The other 15 trainees in the cohort can also look back on a successful participation in the programme: Almost all of the trainees have continued their journey into the film industry and found employment - whether as a permanent employee at one of the partner companies or as a freelancer.

"GetOnSet is a dual training programme. At the partner companies, the trainees gain the necessary practical experience and direct access to the industry. At Hamburg Media School, they receive the theoretical foundation and personal support. This mix is what makes the programme so successful," says Ulrike Dobelstein-Lüthe, Head of Continuing Education at HMS.

Demand was also high for the next round of the programme - more than 150 people had applied by the application deadline. A highly motivated and diverse group of 12 trainees started the programme at the beginning of October. They will spend the majority of their time at one of the partner companies, where they will gain practical insights into the world of film. At the Hamburg Media School, they deepen their knowledge through theoretical course content.
