What is the Fiction Toolbox programme?

The Fiction Toolbox programme is an EFM initiative for diversity and inclusion. It is aimed at entry to mid-level feature film producers and filmmakers and is specifically designed to equip feature filmmakers from marginalised and underrepresented groups with business tools and connections. The programme includes access to networking and matchmaking events and additional business modules (tailored workshops as well as one-to-one meetings and consultations) and offers a package of transferable business know-how and connections under the guidance of an advisor and coordinators.

In the preparation phase, from December 2023: Online meetings between advisors and participants with feedback on projects and strategic planning for networking at the EFM as well as organisational and logistical advice on the EFM from the coordinators.

Three weeks before the EFM (08.01-19.01.2024): a comprehensive two-week programme of focused workshops with experienced tutors on the following topics: Pitching Tools, Funding and Incubators, Grant Writing, Impact Marketing, Sales and Distribution, Press & PR as well as a series of optional workshops with additional useful knowledge, trends and the status quo of the industry.

During the EFM (15-21 February 2024): Participation in matchmaking, networking and community-building events on site in Berlin.

Who can apply?

Regional Executive Producers from marginalised groups who have a feature film project in development and who can participate in online workshops between 8 and 19 January 2024 and travel to Berlin from 15 to 21 February 2024. Selection is based on the strength of the project and who is at the right stage in their career to benefit from participation in the Fiction Toolbox programme. The applicant must be the main producer of the project.

MOIN Film Fund will cover the following costs for the selected Executive Producer(s):

The closing date for applications isWednesday, 8 November, at 6 p.m. CET. Please remember that the working language of all workshops, meetings and events is English; therefore a good knowledge of English is required to participate.
