At its last meeting of the year, the Kurz + Innovativ Committee of the MOIN Film Fund awarded around 150,000 euros to seven projects. These include the short film "No Time" by Schleswig-Holstein Screenplay Award winner Jackie Gillies and the mixed media experience "Haunted Healing" by Hamburg-based animation company Fabian&Fred.
In the short filmNo time (40,000 euros) by Kiel-based Director Jackie Gillies, a 93-year-old woman lives in deep loneliness. The old woman's plan to end her life is thrown into disarray when a new carer starts work. Two winners of the Schleswig-Holstein Screenplay Award are behind the project: Script Writer Jens Bahr received the award for the "No Time" script in 2022 and Director Gillies is the newly crowned winner of the 2023 Screenplay Award with her new material "Octopus". The short film "No Time" is to have five days of shooting in Kiel.
In the hybrid children's short filmLotti and Mr Hirschhorn (20,000 euros, Berlin) by Britt Dunse, 14-year-old Lotti sets off in search of her future together with the human-sized beetle Edgar Hirschhorn. While Lotti struggles between becoming a musical star and a chef, Mr Hirschhorn gives his all to be accepted into the circle of magical animals. Two days of filming are planned in Hamburg.
What happens when the Disney dream factory tries to build the perfect city on its own? The short documentary filmCelebration - The World is a Carousel of Colours (10,000 euros, Hamburg) by HFBK graduate Sarah Drath follows in the footsteps of a failed utopia. Post production takes place in Hamburg.
To this day, there is no official memorial for the 10,000 Hungarian Jewish women who were deported to Ravensbrück concentration camp in 1944. The artistic-experimental DocumentaryInterior views (10,000 euros, Berlin) by Katja Pratschke is an attempt to make up for lost time in the form of a filmic memorial.
The short filmPanic! (6,400 euros) by Croatian Director and Script Writer Sara Grgurić is the audiovisual reconstruction of a panic attack. The German co-producer is the young Hamburg-based company "A Group Therapy Film". Part of the post production takes place in the Hanseatic city.
The VR projectHaunted Healing by Danish Director Maria Herholdt Engermann follows teenage girl Faye through various stages of grief after the death of her father. The prototype funding totalling 45,000 euros goes to the Hamburg animation studio Fabian&Fred. Script Writer is Rita Martinos.
InAI and I is intended to give artificial intelligence a face. Users get to know a fictitious young character who grows up in interaction with them. The Hamburg-based company Headraft will receive 20,000 euros in funding for the concept development of the interactive mixed reality experience.
