Toronto calling

In September 2011 two funded projects will travel to Canada to take part in the section »Contemporary World Cinema« of the 36th Toronto International Film Festival (8th until 18th September 2011).

The chosen projects which will be presented to a fine selection of film distributers, buyers and sales men, as well as to journalists and other industry representatives at the gateway festival for European productions at the Northern American continent, are UFO IN HER EYES by the Chinese author, screen writer and director Xiaolu Guo (international sales agent: The Match Factory), and Asghar Farhadi's Iranian drama A SEPARATION which has already thrilled the film world at the Berlin International Film Festival earlier this year.

Due to Filmförderung Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein's service-oriented approach, we also worked out a list of strong postproduction partners in the region. GERman-Turkish Co-Production Development Fund
German-Turkish co-productions are currently in high demand. The cultural exchange between the regions that border on the Bosporus has proven to be successful for a number of years now.
In order to ensure an early as well as lasting support in matters production development, the Turkish Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Affairs and the co-production market of the Istanbul film festival, “Meetings on the Bridge", have founded the German-Turkish Co-Production Development Fund together with the regional funding institutions Filmförderung Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein (FFHSH) and Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg (Medienboard).

The first call for applications ended in March 2011. On occasion of the 30th Istanbul International Film Festival - »Meetings on the Bridge« seven projects were granted funding. The next call for co-productions will start this autumn. We keep you informed regarding the concrete application date on this page.
