Hollywood in Hamburg: On Friday evening, Hamburg's Prime Minister Peter Tschentscher met director and actress Elizabeth Banks at the filming of 'Charlie's Angels' in the Elbphilharmonie (see images below).
Elizabeth Banks, Director of 'Charlie's Angels':"We are delighted to have been granted permission to shoot Charlie's Angels in Hamburg and grateful to the Mayor and Filmförderung Hamburg for making it possible. The city is integral to the story we are telling and we are taking full advantage of the many beautiful locations including the iconic Elbphilharmonie."
Mayor of Hamburg, Dr. Peter Tschentscher:"The filming of Charlie's Angels shows that Hamburg is also an important international filming location. For many years, Filmförderung Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein has been supporting this development through its dedicated work. The Elbphilharmonie provides the additional factor that we will be taken more seriously on an international level. I am pleased about the growing interest and the increasing importance of Hamburg in the film industry.
Maria Köpf, Managing Director of Filmförderung Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein: "The pride of Hamburg has grown into a film star: The Elbphilharmonie plays a central role in the modern continuation of the world of 'Charlie's Angels.' The modern interpretation of the classic film fits perfectly with Hamburg's liberal spirit. The large number of filming days also makes the production very economically attractive, as there will be increased spending in the city by service providers or the film crew, for example. We are delighted that we always score well when it comes to international filming - primarily thanks to the support of the Ministry of Culture and the local authorities."

Banks and Max Handelman will produce under their Brownstone Productions banner, along with Doug Belgrad and Elizabeth Cantillon.
Film is slated for release September 27, 2019
The film will focus on the next generation of Angels working for the mysterious Charlie. Since the original films, The Townsend Agency has grown considerably and gone global, providing security and intelligence services to a wide variety of private clients with offices and highly-trained teams worldwide. This film focuses on one of those teams.
Producer Elizabeth Cantillon, one of the producers of Charlie's Angels, returns to Hamburg after previously helping to bring the Hollywood production 'The Girl in the Spider's Web' to the city to film stunt scenes on the city's Kattwyk bridge as one of the producers of that film. The thriller, which follows Stieg Larsson's hacker Lisbeth Salander, will be released in cinemas worldwide from October 25.
