For the seventh time since 2014, there is a new call for entries for the debut series NORDLICHTER. Together with Norddeutscher Rundfunk (NDR) and nordmedia - Film- und Mediengesellschaft Niedersachsen/Bremen, we are looking for talented people to realise North German film material.
Ideas?
What moves you or the world around you? Take us with you into your cosmos, with your very own artistic signature, story, visuals, music, sounds and your characters - all in feature film length. We expect diversity and green shooting in the realisation and are very happy to receive submissions of TV films that tell North German stories. The funding amounts to EUR 1,000,000 net per project and consists of contributions from the participating institutions and an executive producer's own contribution (see Leaflet Nordlichter)

The call for entries is aimed at up-and-coming filmmakers who want to realise their debut film. At least two of the up-and-coming talents from the fields of directors, script or production should come from the North or be based in Lower Saxony, Schleswig-Holstein or Hamburg.
The closing date for entries is 15 February 2024

The following documents should be summarised in a single pdf file:
filmography and CV of the writers, directors and/or producers with links to work samples, max. one page each
exposé of 3 pages in length (min. font size 11 and one and a half lines spacing) stating whether the project has already been developed, e.g. whether a treatment or screenplay already exists. (These documents may be requested subsequently).
link to a video pitch of 3 to max. 5 minutes in length on the subject idea with comments on originality and audience relevance.
information about the filming and exploitation rights to the material.
information on how the special regionality in the sense of the NORDLICHTER program is to be depicted in the film.

In 2014, nordmedia - Film- und Mediengesellschaft Niedersachsen/Bremen, MOIN Film Fund Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein and Norddeutscher Rundfunk (NDR) launched a joint funding programme for up-and-coming filmmakers under the title "Nordlichter" and have been supporting the selected projects ever since.
